This Brandenburg frigate was named after the capital of Germany as long ago as 1674. lt is known that this vessel was built in Holland and resembled a galleon. There are also records of a few naval skermishes: at the end of 1676 the "BERLIN" captured the Swedish packet schooner "MARIA" and in 1675 overpowered the French frigate "ROYAL DE DUNKERQUE".

Cette frégate de Brandenburg fut baptisée ainsi en 1674, conformément au nom de la capitale allemande. On sait que ce vaisseau a été construit aux Pays Bas et ressemblait à un gallion. Il existe aussi des archives de quelques escarmouches navales: à la fin de l'année 1676, le "BERLIN" captura la goëlette suédoise "MARIA" et en 1675, il prit le pas sur la frégate française "ROYAL DE DUNKERQUE".
